Mindael ("Mindael," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information. When you create an account, we may collect your email address, display name, and authentication credentials. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the information you authorize Apple to share with us.
- Profile & Preferences. Your onboarding responses (language preference, goals, challenges, experience level), sound preferences, and app settings.
- AI Chat Data. Messages you send to our AI assistant and the responses generated. These are used to provide personalized sound therapy recommendations.
- Sound Journal & Mood Data. If you use the Sound Journal or Mood Tracker features, we collect the entries and mood data you provide.
- Payment Information. We do not directly collect or store your payment card information. All payments are processed through Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or other third-party payment processors (via RevenueCat). We receive only transaction confirmation and subscription status.
- Support Communications. If you contact us for support, we collect the information you provide in your communications.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data. We collect information about how you use the Service, including listening sessions (mode, duration, sounds used), feature interactions, and app navigation patterns.
- Device Information. Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and general diagnostic data.
- Analytics Data. We use analytics tools to understand app performance and user behavior in aggregate. This may include session frequency, feature usage patterns, and crash reports.
- Advertising Identifiers. With your consent (via Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework), we may collect your advertising identifier for attribution and analytics purposes.
1.3 Information from Third Parties
- Authentication Providers. If you sign in using Apple Sign In, we receive basic profile information as authorized by you.
- Subscription Providers. We receive subscription status and purchase history from RevenueCat (our subscription management service) and the respective app stores.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the Service, including personalized sound therapy, AI-powered recommendations, and adaptive soundscapes.
- Process transactions and manage your subscription.
- Personalize your experience based on your preferences, listening history, and goals.
- Power AI features, including the AI Chat assistant and automated sound recommendations. Your AI Chat messages are sent to our AI service provider (OpenAI) for processing. We do not use your personal conversations to train AI models.
- Send notifications, including alarm notifications, session reminders, and service updates (with your permission).
- Analyze usage patterns to improve the Service, fix bugs, and develop new features.
- Display advertisements to free-tier users through Google AdMob. Premium subscribers enjoy an ad-free experience.
- Communicate with you about updates, promotions, and support inquiries.
- Ensure security and prevent fraud or abuse.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
3.1 Service Providers
We work with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Service, including Supabase (authentication and database), OpenAI (AI Chat processing), RevenueCat (subscription management), Google AdMob (advertising for free users), Meta/Facebook SDK (analytics and attribution), Apple (authentication, payments, notifications), and Expo/EAS (app delivery and updates). These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only for the purposes we specify.
3.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, in response to valid legal process, or to protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property.
3.3 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
3.4 With Your Consent
We may share your information for other purposes with your explicit consent.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest, Row-Level Security (RLS) on our database, secure token-based authentication, and server-side storage of sensitive credentials.
6. Your Rights and Choices
6.1 All Users
Regardless of your location, you have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal information, opt out of promotional communications, control notifications, and manage advertising preferences.
6.2 For EEA, UK, and Swiss Residents (GDPR)

7. Advertising and Tracking
Free-tier users may see advertisements served by Google AdMob. On iOS, we request your permission via App Tracking Transparency before tracking. Premium subscribers do not see advertisements.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the app.
